| Southern Africa has a proud golfing history, and has produced more than its fair share of world-class golfers, from the legendary Gary Player, to current players such as Ernie Els, Nick Price and Retief Goosen. This trip provides you with the unique opportunity to play some of the country's best courses on which these great golfers honed their skills, while at the same time exposing you to some of the most spectacular scenery the country has to offer. |
| Note: This itinerary is only available to an organized group of four or more golfers! The group will have the services of an air-conditioned car and driver throughout their stay in South Africa. |
Day One
Arrive in Johannesburg. Upon arrival, you will be met by the driver of the vehicle that you will have until your departure from South Africa. You will be transferred directly to your hotel, located in a plush residential suburb of Johannesburg. Relax for the remainder of the day. In the evening, enjoy dinner at one of the city's fine restaurants.
Day Two
After an early breakfast, you will be taken to the Pecanwood Golf and Country Club some 30 minutes from Johannesburg for your first golf game. After your round of golf, continue to the Sun City resort some 90 minutes drive away. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and have the evening at leisure.
Pecanwood Golf and Country Club is the first golf course in South Africa to be designed by Jack Nicklaus. The golf estate which is situated on the southern shore of the Hartebeesport Dam with the Magaliesberg Mountains in the background, is outstanding, both from its setting and for its design and layout. Pecanwood is appealing and playable to most levels of golfers, challenging their intelligence, rather than their strength.

|
Day Three and Four
You will spend two full days at Sun City. On the first day, you will play a round at the Gary Player Golf Course, while on the second you will have a chance to play on the Lost City Golf Course. Time outside of golfing is best spent relaxing around the hotel, or enjoying the gambling options offered by the Casino.
 |
The Gary Player Country Golf Course, designed by Gary Player, lies amidst beautiful nature and is regarded as one of the best in the world. Stretching over more than 7000 metres, it definitely is one of the world's longest golf courses. Here, every year in December, the "Million Dollar Challenge" is played. All 18 holes are classified as difficult. There are plenty bunkers and water hazards in the shape of rivers and dams. |
 |
The Lost City Golf Course is a new desert-style course with some very interesting features, including live crocodiles at one of the water holes! The style of the course provides a good contrast to the Gary Player Country Club course and has already hosted PGA events. This course has more of a links feel and further interest is provided by some of the greens and tees, which have been terraced into the side of the Pilanesberg mountains. |
Day Five
Today you will transfer to Johannesburg airport for your short flight to Durban.
Upon arrival in Durban, you will be met and transferred to Zimbali Lodge and Country Club located some 30 kilometres up the coast from Durban. Enjoy the spectacular scenery of the resort for the remainder of the day.
Day Six
Today you will play a full round of golf on the stunning Zimbali golf course. Overnight at Zimbali Lodge.
 |
Set in the lush subtropical coastal belt, 42km north of Durban lies Zimbali Lodge and Country Club. Zimbali Lodge is located in a forest surrounded by a championship 18-hole golf course designed by world renowned Tom Weiskopf. The superb championship course has been designed specifically for use by golf cart and offers one of the most breathtaking, scenic golf experiences in the world. The lodge is 5-Star hotel plus boutique and 'service Excellence" is the motto. |
Day Seven
Today you will take a short, scenic drive to the famous Prince's Grant Golf Course, where you will play this challenging and unique course. Overnight at this scenic coastal property.
 |
With panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, Prince's Grant Golf Course has been designed to capture the gracious colonial life-style of early Natal. The course architects, Matkovich & Hayes, designed the course to present challenges similar to those of traditional links course in Scotland, and the unsheltered fairways mounds and well-shaped bunkers are reminiscent of the fabled links courses of Great Britain. |
Day Eight
Today your car & driver will transport you directly to Durban airport in time for your flight to Cape Town. Upon arrival in Cape Town, you will be met and transferred to your hotel, located in the waterfront area of the city.
Day Nine
Today will be set-aside for the group to relax after a few hectic days of golf. In the afternoon, you will be taken to the summit of Table Mountain to see the sunset over the city. Dine at one of Cape Town's many quality restaurants.
Day Ten
After your day off, you will be ready to take to the courses again. Today's game will be at the prestigious Royal Cape Golf Club. Overnight at your hotel.
 |
The Royal Cape Golf Club is the oldest golf course in South Africa. The course is famous for its superb scenic beauty, but also known to be windy and difficult to play. Pars are rarely possible. The course has been host to numerous competitions. The South African Open has taken place at the Royal Cape course nine times already. In 1965, Gary Player won the tournament with a record score of 273 (4 rounds = 15 under par). |
Days Eleven
The venue for play on this day is Gary Player's Erinvale Golf Course.
 |
The Erinvale Golf Course was designed by Gary Player and is seen as one of the best courses of the Western Cape province. In 1996 it hosted the IGA World Cup of Golf. The course is situated at the foot of the Helderberg Mountains. The first 9 holes lie in a valley and despite the many bunkers and water hazards, are quite easy to play. However, holes 10 to 18 stretch over mountainous terrain and provide considerable challenges. |
Day Twelve
The group will have today at their leisure: shopping, touring the Cape winelands, or driving around the Cape Peninsula.
Day Thirteen
You will be transferred to Cape Town airport in time to catch your connecting flight home.
| Non-Golfing Persons: In case there are any non-golfing persons accompanying the group (spouses, children, etc.), Wildspace will suggest activities in each location. |
